Communications workers union continues to ratchet up the pressure for a clean FAA reauthorization

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA's effort at getting the word out among airline passengers that the FAA's authorization is once again set to expire on Sept. 16 isn't the only action the CWA is undertaking to prepare for the next FAA fight:
This week, the Communications Workers of America will launch direct mail and robocall campaigns against the GOP's top transportation policy maker, and about two dozen other GOP members of House of Representatives, according to officials.

Additionally, the CWA is focusing on Rep. John Mica (R-FL), the chair of the House Transportation Committee, with MicaWatch, a source for news and action opportunities.

As we prepare for another round in the fight over the FAA, remember that the central issue is a Republican demand to strip workers of union rights. They want to revert to an old system of counting votes in union representation elections, in which instead of counting the votes actually cast, even workers who didn't vote are counted?as having voted no, of course. Republicans are demanding this despite the fact that if congressional elections were held by this standard, there would be no one in the House of Representatives.
